Billy Wayne Reaves

Mr. Billy Wayne Reaves, age 66, 511 Gribble Road, SE, Aragon, passed away, Thursday morning, March 4, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Reaves was born in Cedar Bluff, Alabama on May 18, 1943, son of the late Louis Franklin Reaves and the late Lillian Newton Davis. For many years he was employed as a mechanic with Julian Harrison Ford. Prior to ill health, Mr. Reaves was employed by the Goodyear Plant in Calhoun. He was of the Baptist faith and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving for 12 years.

Survivors include his wife, the former Diane Hutchins, to whom he was married on September 6, 1974; 4 sons, Ronald Andrew (Andy) Reaves and his wife Bobbie-Jean, Rome, William Matthew (Matt) Reaves and his wife Lisa, Aragon, Steven Reaves, and Charlie Reaves, both of Pinole, CA; a daughter, Debbie Reaves, Pinole, CA; a sister, Bonnie Sweeton and her husband, John, Rome; 2 brothers, Tommy Reaves and his wife, Lynn, Marietta, and Gene Reaves, Piedmont, AL; 2 grandchildren, Madison Elizabeth Reaves, Nathaniel Brian Reaves; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at 12 Noon in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Doyle Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park with military honors being accorded by the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Saturday from 11:00 am until the service time. At other hours they may be contacted at the residence.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers and are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Saturday at 11:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to Heyman Hospicecare @ Floyd, P.O. Box 163, Rome, GA 30162-0163.
