Betty Jo Proudfoot Harper

Mrs. Betty Jo Proudfoot Harper, age 79, 3126 Cedartown Highway, Apt. 1116, Rome, passed away Friday evening, March 5, 2010 at her residence.

Mrs. Harper was born in Floyd County on March 9, 1930, daughter of the late William and Winnie Dabbs Proudfoot. She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Frances Free and Evelyn Maxwell, and by 2 brothers, James Clifton Proudfoot and William Proudfoot. Prior to her retirement, she was Office Manager for Dr. Lester Martens here in Rome, where she was employed for 20 years. She was a member of the South Broad Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Claude Harper, to whom she was married on November 5, 1955; many nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 8, 2010 at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home. The Rev. Gregg Free will officiate. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Monday from 12 noon until the service hour. At other hours, they may be contacted at the residence.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers and are requested to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Monday at 1:30pm.
