Bettie Louise Roberson Nelson

Mrs. Bettie Louise Roberson Nelson, age 68, Kingston, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at her residence.

Mrs. Nelson was born in Cartersville, Georgia on June 1, 1942, daughter of the late T. M. "Red" Roberson and the late Ozella Shaw Roberson. She was also preceded in death by her 1st husband, Gene Thomas, by a grandson, Taylor Thomas, and by a brother, Tony Shedd. Mrs. Nelson was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Cartersville. Prior to retirement, she worked as a Registered Dental Hygienist for over 40 years, working primarily at Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital and for Dr. David Bowen, Dr. Joe Ed Roland, and Dr. Hal Choate.

Survivors include her husband, Monty Rufus Nelson, to whom she was married on July 19, 1987; children, Thomas E. "Ted" Dodd and his wife, Brenda, Kingston, Mrs. Karen Hayes and her husband, Jeff, Rome, Ms. Kelly Thomas, Kingston, Barry Nelson and his wife, Kathy, Rome, Mrs. Melody Burke and her husband, Pat, Huntsville, AL, and Brad Nelson, Panama City, FL; a sister, Mrs. Barbara Greeson and her husband, Crawford, Calhoun; a brother, Johnny Roberson and his wife, Susan, Cartersville; grandchildren, Alicia, Breana, and Bonnie Dodd, Josh and Ben Hayes, Seth Burke, and Ross, Dustin, Judy, and Brandon Nelson; 2 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, and several close friends.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Saturday, July 17, 2010, from 5 until 8pm. A graveside service will be held at a later date. At other hours the family may be contacted at their respective residences.
