Hamilton Hester Tillery, Jr.

Mr. Hamilton Hester Tillery, Jr., age 80, 556 Chester Highway, Eastman, GA, formerly of Lindale, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Dodge County Hospital in Eastman.

Mr. Tillery was born in Lindale on December 24, 1929, son of the late Hamilton Hester Tillery, Sr. and the late Ruby Jewel Sartin Tillery. He was also preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary Katherine Minter, by a sister, Helen VanHorn, and by a brother, Cecil Lamar Tillery. Mr. Tillery retired from Bekaert Corporation here in Rome following over 15 years of employment. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict and was of the Christian faith.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Hopkins, and her husband, Jimmy, Aragon; 2 sons, Edward and Terry Tillery, both of Rome; a grandson, Rev. Scotty Lamar Deems, and his wife, Tabitha, Rockmart; 2 great grandchildren, Brandon and Landon Deems, both of Rockmart; 2 sisters, Ms. Shirley Tillery, Silver Creek, and Mrs. Susan Allen, and her husband, Harry, Rome; a brother, Robert Tillery, and his wife, Rachel, Woodstock; nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 12noon in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home with his grandson, the Rev. Scotty Deems officiating. Private interment will follow later in Rome Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Saturday from 10:30am until the funeral hour. At other times, they may be contacted at each of their respective homes.
