Mr. Joseph Alexander Johnston, age 72, 3500 Floyd Springs Road, Armuchee, passed away Sunday afternoon, January 31, 2010, in a local medical center.

He was born in Floyd County, April 29, 1937, son of the late R. B. Johnston and the late Mildred Hampton Johnston. Prior to his retirement, he was an employee with Fox Manufacturing Company and Seven Hills Trucking Company as a truck driver. He was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Randolph Scott Johnston.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Mrs. Angela Goodson, and her husband, Bobby, Armuchee, and Mrs. Cynthia Byars, and her husband, John, Lindale; 2 sons, Jimmy Johnston, and his wife, Linda, Rome, and Stephen Johnston, and his wife, Patricia, Rome; 4 sisters, Mrs. Emily Silvers, Rome, Mrs. Ann Beard, Armuchee, and Mrs. Alice Waters, and her husband, Doug, Shannon, and Mrs. Alice Pendleton, Kennesaw; 22 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside and interment services will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 2pm from the graveside in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Mike Ellis will officiate.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 6 until 8pm. At other hours, they may be contacted at the residence of a granddaughter, Misty Wilson, 3500 Floyd Springs Road, Armuchee.

Pallbearers serving are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home on Wednesday at 1 pm and include: Bobby Goodson, Jr., Bo Wilson, Tony Beard, Ray Corn, Tyler Aycock, and Daniel Rogers.
